Appending and Merging of datasets in SAS

Bringing information together

Appending and merging are the two processes of collating information logically together. It is one of the most important aspect to learn while one deals with data. But you need to be very careful 'coz' if you are not, data might go haywire.

So let's learn it very tactically ... and see how it works.

Let's learn appending and merging ... step by step and ... in an interesting way.

Appending is generally used when various pieces of same information has to be collated together. e.g. Monthly Sales data, monthly premium data etc.

Merging on the other hand is used when different information pieces for the same entity are to be collated together.
It requires a primary common key in the datasets to be merged.
